Chiropractic Treatment & Adjustment
What is Chiropractic?
At Doctor’s Choice Rehab, our McAllen chiropractic office is dedicated to helping you achieve a healthy, pain-free life so you can focus on the activities, people, and things you love most. When you visit our office, you will be greeted by a team of caring individuals ready to deliver results for you. Our chiropractor begins with a full chiropractic evaluation to help determine the specific root cause for your pain.
Chiropractic is a type of alternative medicine based on the scientific fact that our nervous system controls or influences the function of every tissue and cell in your body. Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Interference of the nervous system will affect how the nerves communicate to every muscle, tissue and organ in our body. Chiropractic services are used most often to treat common musculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
As chiropractors in McAllen, we focus on non-surgical, non-invasive chiropractic care methods that include joint manipulation, manual therapies, and integrated changes to your lifestyle to improve mobility and function. All body functions are controlled by the nervous system. Sometimes the spinal vertebras will get misaligned which will cause pressure on the nerve which will lead you to feel discomfort/pain and even at times radiating pain to wherever the nerve is traveling. Often times, the muscles can get tight or inflamed causing the vertebras to be pulled out of alignment. These injuries can cause pain and limit your movement.
One of the most common and well known therapeutic procedures performed by doctors of chiropractic is spinal manipulation (sometimes referred to as a “chiropractic adjustment”). A chiropractic adjustment refers to a chiropractor applying manipulation to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally. The purpose of spinal manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypo-mobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. By adjusting your spine you will help eliminate any interference from the nerve, which allows your body to function at its optimal ability.
Our McAllen chiropractic office offers a wide range of comprehensive chiropractic adjustment techniques and wellness care. Doctor’s Choice Rehab offer the most advanced chiropractic techniques to provide meaningful long-term results for patients.
What We Do
Physiotherapy/ Physical Medicine
What is Physiotherapy/ Physical Medicine?
Physiotherapy can be defined as a treatment method that focuses on the science of movement to restore, maintain and maximize their physical strength, function, motion and overall well-being by addressing the underlying physical issues. Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness. Physiotherapists get you involved in your own recovery.
Physical medicine methods (i.e., osteopathy, physical therapy, chiropractic, naturopathy, and massage) are often the treatment of choice for soft tissue dysfunction and impingement syndromes.
What is difference between physical therapy and physiotherapy?
What are the differences, and what is it that differentiates physiotherapy from physical therapy? The answer, you may be shocked to learn, is that physical therapy and physiotherapy are exactly the same! There is, in fact, no difference between the two terms and each term can be used interchangeably.
The reason that chiropractors in Texas use the term physiotherapy is because in legislature Physical therapist own the term “Physical Therapy (PT).” Thus making chiropractors use the term “physiotherapy.”
Use of term “Physiotherapy” in title or practice is restricted to licenses under the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners Included in chiropractic license.
Doctor’s Choice Rehab uses Chiropractic physiologic therapeutics to encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the body, using the natural forces of healing such as air, cold, electricity, rest, exercise, traction, heat, light, massage, water and other forces of nature.
